NEW YORK—Coty, Inc. (NYSE: COTY), one of the world’s largest beauty companies, today announced progress in its ranking on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2022 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the foremost benchmarking survey and report of corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality in the U.S.

This year, in Coty’s second annual rating on the CEI, the company saw a score of 95, of a total 100. The 10-point uplift from 2021 reflects Coty’s continuous work to promote LGBTQ+-friendly workplace policies. With operations around the world, Coty is among the 56% of CEI-rated companies also helping to advance the cause of LGBTQ+ inclusion in workplaces outside the U.S.

Coty scored positively for its adoption of gender transition guidelines to promote transgender inclusion, a program that just more than half of CEI-rated companies also promote. Programs to support organizational LGBTQ+ diversity competency, including training for all employees such as a “LGBTQIA+ You” module, and demonstrating public commitment to the LGBTQ+ community also contributed to Coty’s progress on the CEI.

Anne Jaeckin, Coty Chief Human Resources Officer said: “At Coty, we foster a culture in which our associates bring their true selves to work, in turn making Coty stronger. The fact that we’ve been able to improve our score so significantly over the year reflects concerted efforts by teams from across the organization. This includes policy updates, promotion of employee resource groups, and brand programs that allow our consumers to celebrate and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community alongside us. We are not stopping here though. We will continue to evolve to ensure a truly equitable Coty that reflects the communities we are part of and has a positive impact on society. The CEI is a strong benchmark that will help us continue to measure our progress.”

“When the Human Rights Campaign Foundation created the Corporate Equality Index 20 years ago, we dreamed that LGBTQ+ workers—from the factory floor to corporate headquarters, in big cities and small towns—could have access to the policies and benefits needed to thrive and live life authentically,” said Jay Brown, Human Rights Campaign Senior Vice President of Programs, Research and Training. “We are proud that the Corporate Equality Index paved the way to that reality for countless LGBTQ+ workers in America and abroad. But there is still more to do, which is why we are raising the bar yet again to create more equitable workplaces and a better tomorrow for LGBTQ+ workers everywhere.”

Coty is among the 1,271 major businesses ranked on the 2022 CEI. The CEI rates companies on detailed criteria falling under four central pillars:

  • Non-discrimination policies across business entities;
  • Equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families;
  • Supporting an inclusive culture; and,
  • Corporate social responsibility.
