Coty is committed to playing our role in protecting the natural environment while disrupting the beauty industry with new, different, and simply better products. Our environmental strategy is underpinned by circularity, nature preservation, and climate strategy.

Climate Action

At Coty, we recognize our role in supporting the goals of the Paris Agreement. We are committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with both our near-term and long-term climate targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Through our climate strategy, Becoming Carbon Kind, we are taking action to reduce emissions and help create a more resilient future for beauty.

Our Operations

Reducing emissions across our operations is a key part of our climate strategy. We focus on improving energy efficiency, increasing renewable electricity use, and accelerating the transition away from fossil fuels across our sites and fleet.

We are a member of RE100 and use 100% renewable electricity in our factories and distribution centers.

DECARBONIZATION AT OUR GRANOLLERS FACTORY

Since 2020, our largest manufacturing site in Granollers, Spain, has been powered by 100% certified renewable electricity, complemented by on-site solar generation. Through a combination of energy-efficiency upgrades, including full LED conversion, smart energy management systems, and the electrification of key heat-intensive processes, the site has significantly reduced its reliance on natural gas and plays an important role in advancing our decarbonization journey.

OUR VALUE CHAIN

The majority of our greenhouse gas emissions occur across our value chain, making Scope 3 emissions a key focus of our climate strategy. To drive meaningful reductions, we focus on ten priority areas that address our most significant sources of emissions, including packaging, ingredients, transport, merchandising, media, and supplier engagement.

Products are at the heart of Coty, but they also account for the largest share of our Scope 3 emissions. To help reduce this impact, we embed eco-design principles throughout innovation and product development. For our existing product portfolio, packaging renovation and alternative ingredients are a key focus.

Reducing air freight remains a key priority within our transport strategy. We are working to shift more volume to lower-carbon alternatives, including sea and rail transport, helping to reduce emissions across our value chain.

INFINIMENT COTY PARIS

Collection of INFINIMENT COTY PARIS fragrance bottles with refillable design and plant fiber outer cases.

In 2024, Coty launched INFINIMENT COTY PARIS, honoring the company’s rich heritage while boldly reimagining luxury fragrance. Central to this vision was rethinking packaging: the collection features a refillable bottle, an outer case made from plant fiber, and is manufactured using 100% carbon-captured alcohol. Through patented Artcycling, the bottles can also be transformed from single-use items into enduring art pieces. Designed with flat, faceted surfaces, they become reusable canvases for artists, extending their life well beyond their original purpose. The brand invites emerging artists to interpret each fragrance visually, resulting in unique and collectible works.

PACKAGING

We aim to use less, better, and different packaging, guided by our eco-desirability strategy: Reduce, Reuse, Replace, Recycle. Through this approach, we embed circular design principles into packaging development.

We are members of the Sustainable Packaging Initiative for Cosmetics (SPICE) and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s 2030 Plastics Agenda for Business, reinforcing our commitment to advancing more circular packaging solutions and supporting industry-wide collaboration.

We also work to protect forests – 99% of our product folding board boxes use certified materials and we are committed to sourcing all fiber-based materials from responsibly managed sources by 2030.

BOSS THE SCENT

Beauty Of Our Planet BOSS THE SCENT

Across the Hugo Boss fragrance portfolio, eco-design is helping shape the next generation of packaging. By introducing mono-material components, lightweighting glass, and increasing the use of recycled materials, we are reducing environmental impacts while preserving the premium quality and design consumers expect. We are also expanding refillable fragrance formats, supporting a more circular approach to packaging and encouraging products designed to be enjoyed for longer. Together, these innovations demonstrate how luxury, performance, and sustainability can go hand in hand.

GREEN FORMULATION

Our green formulation strategy focuses on the removal of carbon-intense materials, the integration of upcycled and innovative alternative ingredients, and the use of Green Science. We aim to design formulas with a lower environmental footprint while maintaining the quality, safety, and performance consumers expect.

By leveraging advances in fields such as biotechnology and biomimicry, we are embedding sustainability into the way we develop our products.

NATURE

Nature is at the heart of what we do – from the natural ingredients that inspire our products to the ecosystems that sustain them. Our nature commitment is embedded in our Becoming Carbon Kind strategy, reflecting the deep interconnection with climate. We are dedicated to protecting forests, sourcing palm oil and wood-based materials responsibly, conserving water, and minimizing our environmental footprint through sustainable product design.

Water

Water is a vital resource for our products and operations. By improving water efficiency, reducing water withdrawal, and responsibly managing water discharge, we are working to minimize our impact and help conserve natural resources. Our efforts have already delivered a 30% reduction in water withdrawal, exceeding our 2030 target of 25%.

Palm Oil

Coty is a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and 100% of the palm oil we purchase is RSPO-certified. In addition, we are a member of Action for Sustainable Derivatives (ASD), an industry-led collaboration that seeks to achieve the responsible production and sourcing of palm oil derivatives. We participate in ASD’s annual transparency mapping exercise to trace our supply chain, while also disclosing our Tier 1 palm oil derivatives suppliers here.

WASTE

Within our operations, we are committed to reducing the waste we generate, maximizing the recycling of resources, and disposing of unavoidable waste in a way that has the lowest environmental impact.

We aim to send zero waste to landfill from our factories and distribution centers, and have achieved our target to recycle 80% of waste generated by Coty factories and distribution centers by 2030.
